During these times of the Covid-19 pandemic many people have the only option for exercise at home. Nevertheless there are some clear benefits of training at home. These benefits are just as applicable once the Covid-19 pandemic is over and gyms are re-opening.
1 – Always Your Routine
Ever been to a gym and wanted to bench press and you had to wait for the bench to become available? Or wait for someone walking on a treadmill so you could do your scheduled run? This will not happen to you when you train at home. Even though you might not have a treadmill or a bench press at home. You never have to wait for someone or adjust your schedule because you cannot do your routine.
2 – Train When it Suits You
The first and quite obvious advantage of training at home is that you can train whenever it suits you the most. This is also one of the benefits of Online Personal Training. You are able to squeeze in a little session, while it would not be possible if you had to commute to a gym. On top of it, you don’t have to bother with opening hours or a class schedule. So when (family) life fills up your schedule and you have only 15 minutes to spare, you can have that short session. In the end, every day a little bit also goes a long way.
3 – Costs
Training at home will save you the cost of a gym membership or one-time entry fee. It might not be much, but on the long run it saves you quite some money. You will miss out on the social aspects (if that is what was part of your gym visits), but you will have more time to schedule and or have other moments of social interaction.
4 – Privacy
The aspect that ensures you that you can stick to your routine. That is: you don’t have to wait for others to finish their specific exercise. This is also applicable the other way around. There is nobody breathing in your neck for you to finish your exercise.
5 – A Gym that Can be Stored Anywhere
With a little investment in a few basic items, you can create a set-up at home with which you can perform a wide variety of training sessions. As I have mentioned in Advantages of Kettlebels, a kettlebell (or two) is a very good investment to create a home gym. Without filling up a room with equipment. With the addition of a yoga mat, resistance bands and possibly a stability ball you have all you need to train at home. And you have the possibility to store everything in a cupboard.
What to Do Now
In the current worldwide Covid-19 pandemic, this might be the way of training that has been forced upon you. But the advantages are such, that it is worthwhile for many to continue training like this. With a possible little investment you can create a home gym that hardly takes up space and gives you endless possibilities to train. And you can keep having the benefits of training at home.
